This Privacy Policy explains how Scales Academy™ ("the App", "we", "us"), made by Musicmaster Education
Limited, handles information when you use the App. Scales Academy™ helps musicians practise scales and
exercises for music exam syllabuses (such as ABRSM and Trinity College) by listening to their playing
and giving on-screen feedback.
In short: everything you enter and everything the App hears stays on your device. We do
not collect, receive or store any personal information, we do not use analytics or advertising, and we do
not share your information with anyone.
Information Stored on Your Device

Student profiles. When you create a student profile, the App stores the name you enter
(this can be a first name or nickname), the chosen exam board and grade, and display preferences such
as colours. This is stored only on your device. We do not ask for an email address or any other contact
details.

Practice progress. The App stores which scales have been practised and the results of
exercises so progress can be shown and resumed. This is stored only on your device.

Settings. The App stores your settings (for example, metronome and microphone
preferences) on your device.
Like other app data, this information may be included in your device's own backups (for example an
iCloud or computer backup), which are managed by Apple and by you, not by us.
Microphone, Recordings and MIDI Keyboards

Microphone. The App asks for microphone access so it can listen to your playing and
detect the notes you play. The sound is analysed on your device, as you play, and is not sent anywhere.

Recordings. If you use the Record feature, the App makes a recording of your playing so
you can listen back to it. The recording is kept temporarily on your device for playback and is not
uploaded or shared.

MIDI keyboards. If you connect a MIDI keyboard (by cable or Bluetooth), the notes you
play are read by the App on your device to give feedback. Bluetooth is used only to connect to your
keyboard.
Purchases

Subscriptions. Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We
never see or store your payment details. The App checks with Apple, on your device, whether you have an
active subscription so it can unlock the App's content.
What We Do Not Do
- We do not collect or receive your personal information on our own servers.
- We do not use analytics, tracking or advertising services, and we do not track you across other apps
or websites.
- We do not sell or share your information with anyone.
If you choose to share crash reports and app analytics with app developers in your device's settings,
Apple may provide us with anonymous crash and usage information. This is controlled by you in your
device's Settings and is covered by
Apple's Privacy Policy.
Children's Privacy
Scales Academy™ is designed for musicians of all ages, including children practising with a parent,
guardian or teacher. Because the App keeps all information on the device and does not send it to us or
to anyone else, we do not collect personal information from children. We recommend that a parent or
guardian sets up the App for younger children.
Deleting Your Information
- You can delete a student profile in the App at any time.
- Deleting the App removes the profiles, progress and settings stored on your device.
- You can turn microphone or Bluetooth access off at any time in your device's Settings, although the
App will then not be able to hear your playing or connect to your keyboard.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if the App gains new features. Changes
will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
